# Desktop Package Audit

Originally generated from `pacman -Qen` and `pacman -Qem` during desktop adoption. Versions record that snapshot; the package lists under `packages/` are authoritative for current policy.

## Decision key

- **KEEP**: already declared by a shared desktop concern.
- **REVIEW**: currently installed but not proven necessary by a configuration. The newly created `desktop/local` lists are provisional protection against an over-broad first Decman run; remove a package from those lists only after deciding to retire it.
- **RETIRE**: selected from the approved legacy non-Wayland cleanup or the NetworkManager-only decision. These will be omitted from the desktop profile.

## Initial retirement set

```text
dhcpcd
gammastep
i3-wm
lightdm
polybar
xclip
xorg-server
xorg-xauth
xorg-xinit
xorg-xkill
xorg-xsetroot
xsel
```

## Approved follow-up retirement

In addition to the initial set, remove these selected groups from the desktop profile:

```text
ashell-bin
ausweisapp2
code
gammastep
gnome-font-viewer
lib32-libpulse
lib32-vkd3d
lutris-git
pycharm-professional
rpi-imager
rustrover
ueberzug
vkd3d
vulkan-mesa-layers
waybar
wine
winetricks
xclicker
```

Keep `nomacs-git` (the current PNG default), `zsa-keymapp-bin` (matches the managed ZSA rules), and the declared TeX Live stack. The desktop package lists now reflect these decisions; a Decman dry run must confirm the exact removal closure before applying it.
